On October 9th, 2004, the first democratic elections took place in Afghanistan, giving women the right to vote and a glimpse of hope for the future. On Election Day, just after they finished voting at a local high school in Kabul, these women gathered to discuss the day's event. Women's rights and freedoms in one of the world's most oppressive societies are a core issue in the future development of Afghanistan.
