Dirck Halstead has been a photojournalist for 50 years, starting out as a precocious high school student snapping a picture of Rita Hayworth leaving a courthouse in White Plains, N.Y., in 1954, and now engaged as an equally precocious Senior Fellow in Photojournalism at the Center for American History at the University of Texas, Austin.
