As a Life staff photographer, Ed Clark covered the Home Front through the war years. In 1945, he was temporarily assigned to the Paris offices to cover post-war Europe and the Nuremberg Trials.

Here, an artist paints a view of Montmartre in Paris.  Ed created an enormous portfolio of his Paris photos, which ran as a ten-page feature article.

As part of his Life photo feature, "War Torn Germany," Ed traveled through the towns and countryside by car and jeep, recording with sensitivity the immense destruction wrought upon both property and the civilian populace. This boy was a survivor in Nuremberg.
