In Novokuznetsk, Russia, KMK (Kuznetsk Metallurgical Kombinate) a huge steel plant and the main polluter in town, is belching thick smoke filled with carbon monoxide into the Siberian sky.  Below, in Kazakhstan, mostly Russian workers at an ore plant  sort chunks of raw titanium, a metal vital to the aeronautics industry.
