For several days, British tanks made forays into Basra from the outskirts of the town. The day before this photograph was made, a column of tanks made its' way towards the center of Basra. This day British foot soldiers walked into the center of the city and were greeted by crowds of Iraqis, in this traditional Shiite Moslem City.
