On April 7, 2003, British troops ended the siege of Basra as foot soldiers entered the center of the city and were met by crowds of Iraqi citizens of Basra. Soldiers took up positions in neighborhoods all over the city, and widespread looting and chaos spread throughout Iraq's second largest city. |
